Welcome

...to my Treehouse, where I do a bit of sharing goodies with my readers, and a lot of showing off of my CT tags. It's my little nest in the busy world of psp.

Squirrely has been my nickname since I was a child, both because it rhymes with my real name, and because I'm forgetful and just plain nuts at times. I've been tagging for 2+ decades off and on, and now that I'm retired/disabled I'm pretty much on most of the time now.

I love to share what I make with you, and I LOVE it when you respond with love back for the shares. So have a look around, take what you like and enjoy yourself. Just watch for splinters.

Snow Bound - animated PTU

Tube - I've used this awesome tube, "Sleigh" by Danny Lee, I think it's so fun !!!!  You can purchase it HERE at S&Co
Scrap Kit - Bibi's matching kit "Snow", can also be purchased at S&Co HERE. Through tomorrow it's only $.75!!
Mask - 540Insatiable Dreams which can be found HERE, under Masks 13
Template - Kristin-TD-Template-211 which you can find on her blog HERE.  They're about a third of the way down in the middle column.
Filters - Xero Porcelain & Eye Candy 3.1 drop shadow (optional but it's what I use for my tuts)
Font - I've used Studio Lettering Swing - a pay font
Supplies - My zip HERE, which contains the snow.

-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
-------------------------------------------------
Throughout this tut I used EyeCandy dropshadow of - direction 315; distance 4; blur 6; opacity 40; color #00000 -  except where noted.

1. Open Kristin's template, duplicate and close original.  Do not r/s it yet, we can do that later, you'll want to work big for now.  Delete the credit layer, layers 10 & 11 and their copies.  Change the canvas size of the template to this...

Move all the way down in your layer palette to raster 1 and f/f this layer with white.

2. Open your tube and r/s as needed. If using this same adorable tube, resize it to 550 wide. C/p it as a new layer at the top of your layer palette, so we have it there for color and measurement.  Highlight raster 2, s/sa/fl/defl.  Open paper4 and r/s to 430 x 430, c/p as a new layer, invert and tap delete. Select none and delete black circle.  Move your tube now so the bottom of the sleigh is almost to the bottom of the circle. Do not add a d/s yet.

3. Highlight Copy of Raster 2 layer.  Open elem 75 and r/s by 85%, c/p as a new layer moving it so it centers around the circle.

4. Highlight raster 6 copy layer and merge down with raster 6 layer, s/sa/fl/defl.  Open paper 9 and r/s it to 740 squared, c/p as a new layer, invert and tap delete.  Select none.  Repeat these same steps with layers 3 copy & 3 and paper 10, and again with layers 7 copy & 7 and paper 7.

5. Highlight the copy of raster 8 layer, s/sa/fl/def.  Open paper 8 and r/s to 600 squared, mirror. C/p it so that the pine branches at the bottom of the paper show inside the selected area, invert and tap delete & select none.  Duplicate this layer and mirror, move it up so it covers raster 8 in the same manner.

6. Highlight raster 6, s/sa/fl/defl.  Open your closeup tube and r/s as desired, c/p as a new layer over circle, invert and delete.  Repeat this step with the copy of raster 6 using a different part of your tube. Change the blend modes of both to luminance, and add effects weave with the following settings:

Apply Xero Porcelain on default settings to both tube layers.  Merge the two tube layers together, then merge raster 6 and it's copy together.  Highlight the tube layer and merge down.  S/sa/fl/defl then to Modify, select selections borders and choose both sides and a border of 4, anti-alias checked.  Add a new raster layer and f/f with white, select none.  Duplicate this frame layer. On the original frame layer add a Gaussian Blur of 4. Do not add a d/s to either of these layers.

7. Highlight copy of raster 9 and merge down with raster 9. S/sa/fl/defl and add a new layer.  F/f this layer with a color from your tube (I used a color from the dogs, #695641).

8. Now we're going to place the elements.  Refer to my tag for placement if you like, or go your own way.
::::Open elem18, r/s 50%, c/p it to the top of your layer palette and move it down & to the right to cover the strip you just filled, then move it down in your layers palette to above the strip.  Duplicate, mirror and flip.  Add a d/s of direction 315, distance 8, blur 15, opacity 30 with color #000000.
::::Open elem32, r/s 50%.  C/p as a new layer below the brown strip on the right side.  Use your eraser tool to remove any part of the trunk that covers your tubes face on the bottom right circle.
::::Open elem105, r/s 60%. C/p as a new layer below the circles and move it down so the bottom of the dark part is just under the front paws of the dogs.  Grab your freeform selections tool set as point to point, with a feather of 10, and trace around the bottom just a wee bit below the dark part. I used a background of black just to make this screenshot easy to see...

Once done tracing, tap delete just once and select none.  Do not add a d/s to this layer.
::::Open elem109, r/s 75%. C/p as a new layer just below the tube layer.  Add a d/s of direction 348, distance 4, blur 8, opacity 30 with color #000000 and then again with the direction of 191.
::::Open elem44, r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer and move to the left side of the bricks.
::::Open elem27, r/s 60%. C/p as a new layer and move them down so they're "sitting" in the snow on the "floor".
::::Open elem119, r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer at the top of your layer palette and move it up till it's above the brick layer. Add a d/s of direction 315, distance 8, blur 15, opacity 30.
::::Open elem37, r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer at the top of your palette and move it down till it sticks out from your bottom circle.  Move it down in your layers palette now to below the circle.  Duplicate and slide this one up to the top left circle.
::::Open elem5 and r/s 60%.  C/p as a new layer just below your tube layer.
::::Open elem16 and r/s 40%. C/p as a new layer and move it to the left so it's "hanging" from the branch.
::::Open elem38 and r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer at the top of your palette, moving it the right side so some part of it is on the pink rectangle.  Duplicate, mirror and flip and be sure a part of it is on the green rectangle.

9. Highlight your tube layer and duplicate. On the duplicate layer, under Adjust, change the brightness level as follows...

On this layer add a Gaussian Blur of 14, change the blend mode to luminance and drop the opacity to 69.  This gives the tube a pop out look more than a d/s could.  Move back to the original tube layer and duplicate.  To this layer add a Gaussian Blur of 3 and change the blend mode to soft light.

10. Open paper2 and r/s to the size of your tag right now. Highlight your white background layer and c/p paper 2 as a new layer.  Find your 540Insatiable Dreams mask and apply, merge group.  Now r/s your tag (all layers checked) to your preferred size (use smart size).

11. If you're not going to animate, delete your background layer, add your name and your artist's © info and save as a png file.
::::::TO ANIMATE::::::

12. Add your artist's © info and your name, merge all.  Open A/S and find the included snow file.  Select all on the snow file, and go to Animations and resize the snow to the size of your tag.

13. Back in psp, copy your tag, in A/S paste as a new animation.  Duplicate the frames till you have 5 - the same as the snow.  On the snow, select all and copy.  Move to the tag, select all and paste into selected frame.  Save your tag as a gif file.

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and your FUN new tag!!
