Welcome

...to my Treehouse, where I do a bit of sharing goodies with my readers, and a lot of showing off of my CT tags. It's my little nest in the busy world of psp.

Squirrely has been my nickname since I was a child, both because it rhymes with my real name, and because I'm forgetful and just plain nuts at times. I've been tagging for 2+ decades off and on, and now that I'm retired/disabled I'm pretty much on most of the time now.

I love to share what I make with you, and I LOVE it when you respond with love back for the shares. So have a look around, take what you like and enjoy yourself. Just watch for splinters.

Easter Village - a ptu tut

Tube - I've used a super cute 'free with purchase' exclusive tube, "Bunnieta" by which can be found HERE as part of the EASTER BUNNY COLLAB KIT at S&Co. You can also purchase this tube for $1.
Scrap Kit - I've used Kizzed by Kelz super pretty part of the 'free with purchase' EASTER BUNNY COLLAB.  The word art I've used is also part of the collab and created by CT Manager Tweety.  Don't ignore this collab because Easter is almost over - the flowers and artwork in it make glorious Springtime tags as well.
Template - 'Be Right' template by the incredibly creative Dee of Dangerously Delicious Designs HERE
Filters - Eye Candy 3.1 Drop Shadow (optional but used for all of my tutorials) & Glow (for your name)
-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
r/s = resize
-------------------------------------------------
Unless otherwise directed, add an EyeCandy drop shadow of direction 310, distance 5, blur 10, opacity 31 with color #000000.

A note about template use - Templates don't always have to be used as they come, though I very often do with one I really like. I feel that sometimes they're simply helpful tools for giving balance to your tag. This is especially true when you're using a scrap kit that's got alot of elements that you want to use, a good template helps you avoid a big clutter of otherwise beautiful elements, that ends up looking like you just threw the tag together. I really love this template as is, but I liked the placement of the shapes in it which is why I chose it for this tutorial.

1. Open Dee's template, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the layers from the top all the way down to and including the white star layer, as well as the strip of stars layer. Move to the bottom of your layer palette and highlight the beige top circle.

2. Open elem 20 and r/s 75%, c/p as a new layer and use it to cover the beige layer.  Highlight the brown square, s/sa/fl/defl and add a new layer.  Open paper 6 and c/p into the selection, select none. Highlight the bottom beige circle layer, s/sa/fl/defl..  Open paper 7 and r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer and position it within the selected area, invert and tap delete, select none.

3. Highlight the green rectangle layer, s/sa/fl def. Open paper 10 and r/s 75%, c/p it over the selected area, invert and tap delete - select none.  Move up to the blue oval, s/sa/fl/def.  Open paper 9 and r/s 75%, c/p as a new layer moving it around until the darker pink color is on the left side of the oval, invert and tap delete, select none.  Now go back and delete all of the layers that you've covered up, and leave the ones we haven't as they are.

4. Open elem 22, c/p as a new layer moving it until it covers the right side of the paper 9 oval. Open elem 37, r/s 47% and c/p as a new layer, dropping it below and moving it behind the frame layer.  Using your magic wand, loosely trace around the mushroom cap roof.  Promote this as a new layer, select none and move this new layer above the frame in your layer palette so it appears the house is coming out of the frame.  Merge these 3 layers together now.

5. Open elem 40, duplicate and close original. R/s 50% all layers UNchecked.  Open elem 33 and r/s 70%, c/p this onto elem 40. Move around elem 40 until the bottom of the grass lines up with the wago's handle.  Add d/s's to each and merge together.  C/p this cluster as a new layer onto your tag and move it to the bottom left side of your tag.

6. Open your tube and r/s it accordingly (I r/s'ed this tube to 480 height). C/p as a new layer and move to the bottom right in front of the frame.

7. Open elems 2 & 8 and r/s them both 50%. C/p 8 as a new layer, dropping it below the bunny cluster in your layer palette and moving it above it on the template so you can't really see the bottom edge of the basket. C/p elem 2 and 'sit it' on top of the basket.  Open elem 34 and r/s 25% and mirror.  C/p as a new layer below elem 2 in your palette and move it so it sits in the middle of the 2 chocolate towers.

8. Now we decorate:
:::Open elem 4 and r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer under the chocolate bunny layer.  Free rotate left 45 degrees and move it a bit above and to the left of the chocolate bunny.  Add a d/s of distance 8, blur 16, opacity 34 to this ribbon.
:::Open elem 26 and c/p just below your tube layer and tuck it around the left side of the frame.
:::Open elem 6 and r/s 50% and then 25%. C/p a few scattered about.
:::Open elem 12 and r/s 50% and then 25%.  C/p and move to the top left corner of the white layer.  No d/s on this layer.
:::If using Tweety's word art, r/s 50% and duplicate 2x.  Merge visible, then c/p as a new layer just above the frame layer, moving it to the left.  Add a d/s of distance 3, blur 3, opacity 75.

9. Crop and/or r/s as needed, add your artist's copyright information and your name, and you're done!

Enjoy your tag and if you celebrate it, I wish you a lovely Easter!
