...to my Treehouse, where I do a bit of sharing goodies with my readers, and a lot of showing off of my CT tags. It's my little nest in the busy world of psp.

Squirrely has been my nickname since I was a child, both because it rhymes with my real name, and because I'm forgetful and just plain nuts at times. I've been tagging for 2+ decades off and on, and now that I'm retired/disabled I'm pretty much on most of the time now.

I love to share what I make with you, and I LOVE it when you respond with love back for the shares. So have a look around, take what you like and enjoy yourself. Just watch for splinters.

Mask Mon- er, Tuesday & Show-offs!

Happy Tuesday all, and if you're on the eastern seaboard of the U.S.A. like I am, I hope you're safe, warm and dug out from the crazy weekend we had.  I had 31 inches in my backyard, it was insane!!  I'm sorry I didn't get these masks out yesterday like always, but life being life, was unpredictable and I had practically zero computer time.

And I don't know about you, but snow always make it feel like Valentines Day & Mardi Gras, probably because we usually don't get it until late January early February.  So I was
so pleased to see that Carita of Carita Creationz re-vamped & released her mini-kit

As you can see it's a vibrant, jewel colored kit that's the perfect size to create a couple of
tags for this fun celebration.  I was so thrilled to get a chance to use this tube too!!  lol

Another mini kit - this time Dee's - that's simply too adorable for words, is aptly named,

And although it's one of her mini's, there is no shortage of awesome and fun elements as you can see in my tag.  And I love the color combo of soft beige with pink, it's so, well, SWEET.

Have you checked out the HERE2HELP Facebook page for fans??  It's a great way to get to snoop around and see what's coming in March in this ginormous collab that our favorite Designers and Artists are putting together to help Mirella (A Space Between) pay for her cancer treatments.  Be sure you do, because you're going to be SHOCKED at what's coming your way.  Be sure to check out the Raffle section so you can start drooling at the prizes you can win.  And of course, there's her store

And last but not least, here are your masks that you should have gotten yesterday.  Once again with a Valentines theme as so many of you have requested. As you can see they are the same base mask with one lighter and one darker, perfect for layers of masks which is something I enjoy doing.  They can also of course, be used separately.

Day 4 - Golden Greetings

Day 4 of my freebie week folks, and I couldn't be happier with all of your response and
thank you's.  Remember this week is brought to you because of the tagging world's almost universal love for Mirella of "A Space Between" as she faces her 2nd bout of Ovarian Cancer, now stage 3.
Please scroll to the previous post and have a read, but remember her massive retirement sale
ENDS FEBRUARY 5th and then will be gone forever. We are
Click above to join our Facebook group to be kept up to date on all of the goodies being donated; kits, tubes, etc.....

Today I've made you a beautiful animated pink and golden set of greetings tags, created with Carita Creationz dazzling new kit, "Heart of Gold".  The papers to this kit are as amazing as the elements, I just fell in love with it.  Click on the greeting tags you want and then right click to save them.  I hope you enjoy them and I'll be back tomorrow with my final freebie for you!

Wednesday Desktops & Let's RALLY Everyone!!

Day 3 of my freebie week dedicated to Mirella of
Those of you that would just like to make a donation to Mirella's Paypal acct., can get her address by writing to the address above- here2helpmirella@gmail.com.
I'm so happy to tell you that thanks to her store sales, Mirella was able to buy 2 weeks of her medications already - isn't that wonderful?  YOU did that folks!!!  And yes, THAT is how important it is.  When my 2nd husband was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma at 29 yrs old, it took just 3 months for our close to $70,000 of savings (house fund, bonds, 401K's) to be gone.  We had to move into my parents basement with 2 little girls and newborn.  Cancer kills more than good cells in a person's body (as if that wasn't enough).  It kills your life and takes everything you had along with it.  We were very lucky to have our families nearby to help us at least.  Mirella doesn't even have that as you read.  She needs every bit we can do for her.
Please, please help if you can.

On Monday I shared an adorable tag I made with Dees'SignPost's new kit "I Adore You".  Today's desktop uses the same sweet as sugar kit.  Come on, won't it be nice to wake up to "Good Morning Beautiful" on your desktop everyday? ♥

This zip file include all popular screen sizes.
Download HERE - enjoy - and go buy a pretty scrap kit for next to nothing at A Space Between!

See you tomorrow to continue the freebies!!

Surprise FTU Cluster

From time to time I'll be offering the FTU Cluster frames that you all love so much.  With the added bonus <<yippity skippity>> of being able to use Carita Creationz glorious kits to make them with!  Are you excited??  Well I'm TWICE as excited as you!!

Just look at this kit!!  Look at the colors!  I just don't think you can get more elegant than royal blue with deep metallic gold (that goes for jewelry too).  This kit tells a story to me when I look at it.  A lovely, elegant yet earthy woman (is she an archeologist?) is walking on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea, where she is searching for.....what, what is she searching for?  Or perhaps she's in a beautiful royal blue ballgown dancing under the stars while she's trying to raise grant money to fund her dig.
Perhaps I've watched too many movies lately.....

But either way, you have to admit this kit, "Royal Blue" is incredible, and you can purchase the full (newly revamped) kit at Carita's store at Dees'Sign Depot.

Masked Monday; 50% and Show Offs

After laying in bed for almost 4 months it's SO nice to be active and busy in the tagging community again, you have no idea.  Big things are happening right now and I want to start this week of freebies here at the Treehouse by sharing this information with you.
**(wait, did she say WEEK of freebies?)

Oh yes, you are reading that right.  Long time Designer, Mirella of "A Space Between" is retiring effective immediately and is having a 60% off sale on all of her kits over at Dees'Sign Depot store until Feb. 5th ONLY, then they will disappear forever!  This is not a deal you'll want to miss because believe me, her designs are truly beautiful.  I wish she was retiring in such a hurry to head to a Caribbean island, but sadly that's not the case.

Please be sure to read this in full, because I couldn't say it as succinctly as Dee has done here in this open "heads up" to the entire tagging community.
Dee started this event yesterday morning, and there are already 50 store owners and Designers on board with donations, and 30+ offers of donations from taggers like you and me.  And we're contacting Artists as well for any donations they'd like to contribute.  This is gonna be BIG my friends, so stay tuned as I'll share important information to you as it becomes available.
HINT - start saving your $$$ for raffle tickets now!!

I've had a super fun week of tagging for Dee and Carita with their incredible designs!!  Love is in the air with Valentines Day less than a month away, and whether you love it - or hate it - I've got a show off for you.

Dee has a new stunner of a kit out, "I Adore You", and you will adore this kit.  Always a favorite color combo of mine, the teals, blues and purples in it run from soft to bold complimenting each other beautifully on the papers and elements.  And the elements are SO much fun, lots of flowers and sprays and stamps, not to mention 23 frames!!  SqUeAL!!!
For this tag, I've used one of Dee's older love themed kits split into parts, "Precious Love 1 & 2".  If you'd like both parts Dee has also bundled the kit together at a savings. Shades of pink and tans, mixed in with greenery makes for such a beautiful palette, don't you think?  This is what I call a 'little touch kit', because the beauty of it is in it's subtleness, soft elements and even softer papers, a bit of bling, and lots of great word art too.

Another really fun kit for those of you not in love with this day of love, is Carita Creationz "Stupid Cupid".  I find it amazing how Carita can still retain her elegant quality even while making a 'hater' kit lol.  She's combined rich ruby red and hunter green with black metals and leather to make this a super fun kit to play with.

And finally as requested, here are a couple of Valentines masks for your tagging fun on this cold and snowy Monday (in my part of the world).

Download these HERE and enjoy them.

**Yes, I DID say "week of freebies" way up top.  See you soon

Monday Mask, New CT & ShowOffs

I'm so excited to tell you that I'm now on the CT team for "Carita Creationz" (formerly CrazyCarita) who is now comfy and cozy selling at Dees'Sign Depot store.  Her kits are SOOOO elegant and colorful, with many more papers and elements now as well.  So far I've worked with two of her kits, the first was

a stunner of a mini kit at a mini price

Today I got to play with her newest kit,
which as you can see has truly sweet as sugar rich elements in it.  You know that feeling when you see a preview of a kit, and you immediately start to imagine what tag you're going to make with it??  Yep, that happened to me when I saw it last night.

Feel free to snag either of these Welcome tags if you'd like.

And as it's Monday, I'd like to restart Monday Masks, so here are my two latest for you to snag.  I used the heart shaped one in the Sweet Valentine tag above.

Kisses To Heaven - a PTU tut

Well it's been ages since I've written a tutorial, hasn't it?  I figured I'd dust myself off and see if I still can. I think I can, I think I can....
I don't know about you, but I'm seeing Zindy tags all over the place right now, as so many of us (myself included) took advantage of her 'retirement from tube making' sales.  I wanted to use these two tubes of hers together for this tag as sort of a tribute to her astounding talent.  The tube in the frame I'm pretty sure is my first Zindy tube from the late 90's, the main tube is one of her newer ones.  Notice how she's grown as an artist right under our noses, which is one reason why so many of us simply adore her and will miss her gracing our lovely little hobby with her beauty.

Tube - I've used two gorgeous tubes by Zindy Nielsen, one very old, one reasonably new which you can still purchase at her shop HERE.
Scrap Kit - Dee of Dees'Sign Depot just released this serene and lovely new kit, "Kisses To Heaven". Dee has also bundled this kit for you, check it out.
Mask - my own SquirrelyMask-Halloween04 which you can find HERE
Filter - Eye Candy 3.1 Drop Shadow
FontMadison (optional) & Dawning of A New Day (name)
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
r/s = resize
For this tutorial, do NOT add your d/s until the end so you can achieve the soft glow in my preview.

1. Open a new image 800 x 800 and f/f with white, we can crop and r/s later. Open paper8 and c/p as a new layer.  Layers, load SquirrelyMask-Halloween04 and merge group, duplicate and merge down.  Open element 89, r/s 80% and c/p as a new layer.

2. Open paper 12, r/s 75% and c/p as a new layer onto your working image. Open frame 2, rotate right, r/s 74% and c/p as a new layer.  Tap inside of the frame layer with your magic wand, Modify and Expand by 2, invert and tap delete on your paper layer - leave selected. Now grab your secondary tube and r/s it to 510 pixels tall. C/p it above the paper layer and move it around so it sits within the selected area,  tap delete to dispose of any excess, select none. Change the blend mode of the tube to Multiply.  Hide the white layer and merge all visible layers. Move this frame to the left side, duplicate it and free rotate it 7 degrees to the left. Move it over slightly to the left.

3. Open element 77a, r/s 80% and c/p it as a new layer dropping it below both frame layers.  Free-rotate left by 14 degrees and move it between the 2 frames in your layers palette.  I've added some words (with "Madison" font & color #44361b) here which is, of course, completely optional, because I felt it
furthered the theme of my tag.

4. Highlight the bottom frame layer now.  Open element 64, r/s it 90% and c/p as a new layer aligning the bottom of it with the bottom of the frame.  Open element 55 and r/s 50%. C/p it as a new layer, move it to the right side of the gate and drop it below it.

5. Open your main tube and r/s it accordingly (if using the same tube, 90%). C/p as a new layer at the top of your layer palette aligning this with the bottom of the gate. Open paper11, r/s 75% and c/p as a new layer dropping it below your main tube.  Highlight your tube, s/sa/fl/defl/ and tap invert.  Tap delete on the paper layer and select none.  Change the blend mode of your tube to burn, duplicate it and change this one to overlay, decreasing the opacity to 61.  Play around with the blend modes if your tube is different until you have a look you're happy with. Once satisfied merge these layers together.

6. Now let's decorate with some elements:
::::Element 42 - r/s 50% - c/p just above gate layer moving it to the right.
::::Element 39 - r/s 50% - c/p it below it below the main tube layers moving this too to the right.
::::Highlight your main tube layer.  Open element 34 and add an inner bevel to it with the following settings:

C/p as a new layer and move to the far left.
::::Open element6 - r/s 50% - c/p and move to the far left in front of the harp..
::::Open element13 - r/s 60% - c/p and place it behind the flower.  Duplicate - mirror.
::::Open element9 - r/s 50% - c/p it below the right side leaf layer and move it up slightly.
::::Open element 46 - r/s 75% - c/p it moving to the far right and up slightly.
::::Open element7b - r/s 50% - c/p and move to the far right over the leaves.
::::Open element72 - r/s 50% - c/p and move to the right tucking it in below the leaves layer.
::::Open element 69b - r/s 40% - c/p and move slightly to the right tucking it in below the pearls on the water jug.
::::Open element 41 - r/s 50% - c/p it and tuck in a bit below the flower.
::::Open element 21 - r/s 50% - c/p it and move it to down slightly to the left and above the candles in your layer palette.

7. Once you're happy with the placement of all of your layers, hide the white background, the mask and the lace circle.  Highlight your tube layer, go to Edit and copy merged. On your working canvas go to the top of your layer palette and paste as a new layer.  You'll have to move it around until it's lined up perfectly with your tag.  Go to Adjust and add a Gaussian Blur of 6 to this merged layer and change the blend mode to soft light.  Now hide this layer, and un-hide the white background, the mask and the lace circle.

8. Open Spray_6 and c/p as a new layer above your hidden blurred layer, moving it down just a teensy bit.  Open Spray_7 and c/p as a new layer, mirror.

9. Still leaving the blurred layer hidden, go through each layer (except the sparkles) and add a very light d/s to each one.  I've used Eye Candy 4000 Shadowlab and used the following shadow throughout.

10. Crop and/or r/s as preferred, add your artist's copyright information and your name, and you're done!
